These Monarchs are everywhere, but so elusive to photograph. I was especially pleased to get this one in the air. I could have cropped closer, but I loved the way the framing worked out and the sense of flight. You can just see the wing of the bee taxiing into the hanger.

The word derives from the Middle English phrase wo begon. The wo in this phrase simply means "woe," but begon is a past participle meaning "beset." Someone who is woebegone, therefore, is beset with woe. It was the first word that came to mind when I saw this Red-capped Mangabey.

As the sun's gentle warmth caresses the fiddlehead, a silent transformation takes place. Slowly, with patient grace, the tightly wound spiral starts to unfurl, revealing the tender fronds concealed within. Like a dancer in slow motion, the fern extends its slender arms, reaching out to the world.

Penrhyn is one of the most admired of the numerous mock castles built in the United Kingdom in the 19th century; Christopher Hussey called it, "the outstanding instance of Norman revival." The castle is a picturesque composition that stretches over 600 feet from a tall donjon containing family rooms, through the main block built around the earlier house, to the service wing and the stables.

Chester is indeed a city known for its unique architecture and historical charm. Chester does possess a distinctive aesthetic that gives it an elegant and sophisticated appearance, as if it were dressed up for a special occasion.
One of the most prominent features contributing to Chester's distinctive look is its well-preserved medieval city walls. Walking along the walls, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the city's architecture, including the iconic black-and-white half-timbered buildings.

The lighthouse at New Brighton viewed from the Pier looking across the Mersey towards Bootle. It sits next to the Perch Rock fort. The first light was fixed to a simple wooden 'Perch' or large post put up in 1683. The foundation stone of the new lighthouse was laid on 8th June 1827 by Thomas Littledale, Mayor of Liverpool. It was designed on the lines of Eddystone by Mr. Foster and built of marble rock from Anglesey by Tomkinson & Company. Work was only possible at low tide and it was not completed until 1830.

‘Venice is a city built on water. It is preposterous. If you couldn’t see it with your own eyes and touch it with your fingers, you would think it was some poetic fancy. It really shouldn’t be there at all. But it is. And it is beautiful beyond words.’ – Russell Norman.
Norman expresses my sentiments perfectly.

Staithes is a seaside village in the borough of Scarborough. At the turn of the 20th century, there were 80 full-time fishing boats putting out from Staithes. A hundred years later there are still a few part-time fisher men.

Thanks to all of you for your input regarding whether to keep posting my texture work in a second account. You spoke to my heart and I feel good moving forward to have all of my work contained in one place. While I know that some of my contacts prefer one style over the other, there will be something for all of you as I change things up often.
